From the first meeting of interested people over 100 years ago, it is obvious that West Side Union High School has been based on a solid foundation of academic excellence. The founding fathers and others provided facilities, carefully planned the curriculum and became actively involved in developing and facilitating all the programs designed for the students so they would have a solid base for learning that would carry them throughout their lifetime.

The history of Los Banos High School would not be complete without the inclusion of the grammar schools that built the foundation for secondary education. In the beginning there was nothing but open space. No people and no buildings and then the people started coming into the area and they established their two most important institutions. Their schools and their churches.
